Blessed and fortunate and happy and spiritually prosperous (in that state in which the born-again child of God enjoys His favor and salvation) are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness (uprightness and right standing with God), for they shall be completely satisfied!
There is a way of living for God that brings his blessings of spiritual prosperity. To hunger and thirst for Jesus is hungering and thirsting for righteousness. He is the one who makes us righteous and puts us in right standing with God. Seeking Gods way and trying to be obedient to his guidelines, is also hungering and thirsting for righteousness. To do what is righteous, means to not do what we know to be right. Making right choices based on our Christian beliefs will bring the Lords blessings. The only way to understand Christian beliefs is to pursue knowing them, that’s the type of desire that Jesus is talking about.
